The Great Basin, primarily located in Nevada, covers an area of more than 180,000 square miles with elevations as high as 14,500 feet. The Great Basin is known for its unique geology and ecology, but the most commonly known feature is its hydrology. The area is completely self contained, which means that any precipitation within the region either drains into rivers and lakes, but does not find its way to the Pacific Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico. The Great Basin spans through five states and includes hundreds of mountain ranges, making Nevada the most mountainous state in the union. It is made up of over 90 basins and valleys making it home to unique plant life such as the Bristlecone Pine. These ancient trees are some of the world’s oldest, some living for more than 4,000 years.

This is a beautiful way to invest in silver and have something that has a very appealing design to look at. It also should appreciate in value much faster than simple silver bars or silver rounds. It is a sound purchase since it is issued by the US Mint.

- Mint Condition
- Collectible (lower mintage)
- Bottom Line

This is a beatiful coin - no questions. I only wish that the quality of minting would be better. Perhaps the US mint should ask the Perth mint to manufacture the coin, the quality would then be significantly higher. To call this coin a quarter is somewhat unusual. It is almost one quarter of a pound in weight. This reminds me of the British pound which originally had the values of one pound of silver. Today, the value of the British Pound is somewhere between one and two US Dollars.
- Pros
- Recognized Brand
- Attractive Design
- Collectible (lower mintage)
- Easy to Sell
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
