I researched this coin well before I set my mind on purchasing, after all $500 for 5 oz of silver is a lot. I looked at the mintage, other series that have been produced and it seemed like I might be throwing my money away. Sometimes there are coins that don't photograph well. Sometimes, the image doesn't marry up with reality as well. THIS coin took my breath away. The detail, the mother of pearl in-lay, the presentation and the low mintage are all factors that made me incredibly happy that I made this purchase. This is also my lunar year, and I know there are a lot of wonderful coins minted this year...but this was the OMG coin. I had also purchased the Laos Jade and Silver Year of the Horse coin, which was also incredibly impressive, but I am going to have to say, I found my new favorite coin.
