Great Coin

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

No matter what, the Libertads are always a good investment and, until they increase the Mintage; I'll be buying them! They just keep gaining in popularity... And value, which is always nice. The price over spot seems a lot, but they are typically worth more in a month

  • Pros
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Easy to Sell
  • Mint Condition
  • Recognized Brand
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

2015 Libertad details not as good as previous coins

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I have bought this coin before and they were excellent, it seems the manufacturers were in a rush and didn't get the pressing of this year's coin correct, but I bought it anyway, it is priced according to its overall quality of production. I wwil buy more due to APMEX pricing policy.

  • Pros
  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Easy to Sell
  • Recognized Brand
  • Cons
  • Poor Condition

+++ Design - Libertads are among my favourites. Although I have both, I find Eagles and RCM Maple Leafs both a bit ugly by comparison. I do not know why more people do not collect Libertads. But better for me. Well, for buying not selling! +++++ Packaging - Excellent +++ Substance - Two ounces is a comfortable weight in the hand. +++++ Finish - Very appealing frosty mat finish - - Enclosure - I find the plastic envelope folder hard and therefore cheap. One side was cracked so the edge sticks out - not 100% safe from damage. I will put coin in a new one that is better quality. Are these folders the originals from the Mexican Mint? +++ Condition - No doubt this is BU, so I blame La Casa de Moneda for the questionable design. What am I talking about? The reeding is such that I couldn't tell if the edge was BU or not. As one rotates the coin I could not tell if the edges were damaged or the reeding just goes right up to the edge and it is an optical illusion. I am new to coin collecting anything in good condition and my vision isn't perfect. Maybe all reeded coins have this drawback. But, I never noticed it in Maple Leafs. ? Common mintage - By rating as a 'negative' I mean that nobody knows, presumably until the next year. Am I correct on this point? It appears that buying the current year is the best value. Whether it turns out to be a low mintage is a gamble. - - Value per ounce - Unlike the 5 ounce and the 1 ounce, the 2 ounces always seem to be over-priced per gram of Ag. Whether this has to do with market demand or limited mintages I do not know. And it certainly is not the fault of APMEX +++ Availability - Problem with competitors who *maybe* have cheaper prices, is that at least one of them never has them in stock! To pay slightly more for a product in stock is better than slightly less when it is all talk. I should have purchased this coin when it was first issued, for very best price. ? Value - This coin purchased in the year of its mintage was on sale. The question of value is unknown to me at this time.

  • Pros
  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Easy to Sell
  • Mint Condition
  • Cons
  • Common (higher mintage)
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Not of good quality

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

It's a beautiful coin and great for collecting and investing but these coins are being issued out with marks and scratches. What APMEX should do is inspect these coins before they just ship them out. My new 2015 2 oz silver Libertad looks worn like its three years old.

  • Pros
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Cons
  • Poor Condition
  • Marked Up
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
