APMEX individually seals each MintDirect® coin to ensure the authenticity and condition after the coins are removed directly from the mint boxes. Each coin is placed in a protective, non-reactive plastic polymer authentication card to protect your coin’s finish. At the end of every year, the Royal Canadian Mint issues coins that carry the date of the upcoming new year. Accordingly, the dies used to strike the coins from the prior year are destroyed and new dies are engraved, prepared and deployed to strike the coins for the new year.
The coin dies wear down over thousands of strikes, causing the details of the engraved die that transfers to the newly struck coin to flatten, diminishing the quality of the finished coin below standards. At this point, the dies are replaced. For each minting press, new dies may be required multiple times each year. Once the new dies are installed, the strike quality (the detail transferred to the newly struck coin) returns to its maximum. There is no public notice that dies are changed, and each minting press changes dies at different times required by die wear.
Because each new year brings new dies, APMEX has designated all products delivered by the Royal Canadian Mint during the first 30 days of their issuance that go through the MintDirect® process as MintDirect® Premier. MintDirect® Premier may not be recognized by external grading services. APMEX will only have a limited number of MintDirect® Premier products each year.

After the process is completed, the coin in the tamper-evident package is removed from the machine and checked to ensure that the quality of the packaging meets our exacting standards. You now have a finished 2016 1 oz Silver Canadian Maple Leaf MintDirect® Premier Single.
By using this process, APMEX can guarantee that the coins you receive are authentic and in the exact condition as they were when they left the Royal Canadian Mint. The MintDirect® process gives investors confidence in their purchase, knowing that they can buy, hold or sell an authentic coin — guaranteed.

I love the maple leaf just when you buy normal ones especially gold ones they can be nicked up on the side of the coin from banging around in the mint tube is my guess. But when you buy mint direct they are perfect for only a cupple bucks more I would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind paying a cupple extra bucks for perfection

Silver Maples are the best coins in the silver coin market. Yes I am bias but these coins are a great buy, cheaper than the Eagle, Libertad, and many others, but this coin has quality, recognition bullion value, numismatic value and even monetary face value.

2016 Silver Maples in the Apmex Mint Direct Singles . . . Premier or even if they're not Premier . . . is a beautful form of real money. And the Mint Direct Single Slabs by Apmex is an excellent way to keep and store any of these silver/gold rounds. Keep your eye on the market and you can buy these at a good value (over spot). Yes, the premiums are a bit higher but I think it's worth it for the long run . . . any run really. The Apmex slabs preserve quality. Think of the premiums people pay for metal rounds in other "plastic" slabs. Many aren't even graded. Just preserved!!! Keep your eyes open. The value can be great!

I recently ordered four of these coins and they are very brilliant and well designed. I must say they are some of the better looking silver coins Ive ordered. Only problem is that one of the coins has nicks in the 1:00 and 3:00 area of the coin but I suppose that is a minor flaw. Overall though they are a good purchase for the money and I would recommend.
