Gold Reaches $2000 Per Ounce
Gold has been breaking historic highs for the past month, and in the latest climb upwards it broke the milestone of $2,000 an ounce.Stock markets opened lower today due to lower-than-expected earnings across many separate industries, with blue chip companies like BP having to resort to dividend cuts to stay afloat. Earnings reports will continue to roll in as Tuesday continues. Large firms that have been staples of portfolios are taking a big step back due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
10-year Treasury bond yields are still pushing lower, currently sitting at .52%, with 2-year at .11%, 5-year at .2% and 30-year at 1.19%. Investors seeking alternate hedges against risk are pushing Gold higher.
