The is the first issue of the Presidential Silver Medals program provided by the United States Mint. This Silver medal honors George Washington, the first president of the United States of America. Prior to his presidency, Washington was the commander of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War and is credited for leading the way in completing and signing the Constitution on September 17, 1787.
This U.S. Mint Presidential Silver medal contains 1 oz of .999 fine Silver and is part of a new collection of Silver medals commemorating various presidents of the United States of America.
Medallion Highlights:
- Medal contains 1 oz of .999 fine Silver.
- Coin ships in protective plastic capsule.
- Obverse: Features a right-facing profile of George Washington with "1789" immediately below. Surrounding text states "George Washington President of the United States of America."
- Reverse: Across the top are featured a peace pipe and tomahawk crossing each other. "Peace and friendship" are the theme as a pair of hands shake in the center, the left hand being of a Continental Army delegate and the right being a Native American.
- Rim: Smooth edges, rather than reeded.
