The silver Britannia series is one of the best ad unique govt bullion set to have been produced. I just hope they start changing the designs again every other year.

Too Shiny

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

This 2012 Brittania's finish is very mirrored with virtually no contrast in luster on either the obverse or reverse. While a nice coin, my preference would have been for one with more visual appeal.

  • Pros
  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Recognized Brand
  • Bottom Line
  • No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Merchant response: Len: We apologize that you're not 100% satisfied with the coin. Like art, coins are often a matter of opinion. Know that if you ever decide to sell the coin, we'll be here.

Last of a generation

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

The 2012 Brilliant Uncirculated Silver Britania is the last time this coin has met the "Britannia Silver" standard of 95.84%. The coin still contains a full troy ounce of silver but Britannia's made after 2012 went from being a 40mm @ 32.45g to 38.61mm @ 31.21g. This is the last of a generation of coins and only 100,000 exist. The Britannia's made from 2013 forward are now made "Mint to Order" meaning the rarity is not going to be quite as high. But this is from the home of the Crown - how can you not buy it? The Brit's have set the Silver standard for generations. The London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) still sets the standard for delivery of Silver to the open market. If you own a Britannia - you own guaranteed, quality, fine silver, known throughout the world.

Really really beautiful coins. Been collecting them for years, the 2012 is particularly nice. They tend to be a few quid more than the Maple Leafs or Golden Eagles but its been my experience on the back end when you go to sell they tend to hold their value very well. Great way to get into silver bullion.

  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Wow, hurt-your-eyes bright! Because of the similar majestic female figures on the obverse, I thought this coin would be similar to the Silver Eagle or the Libertad. In some ways it is. However, it really grabs your attention because it has a mirror-like shine and it is very flashy. Great design! I still love the classic finish of the Eagles and Libertads, but this coin is the diva among the three!

  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Really truly a beautiful coin. I placed it in an air-tite for ASE with the ornament loop. Fits great and is by far the best way to have your cake and eat it too.
