As you buy South Africa 1 oz Gold Krugerrand bullion and other Precious Metals, know these terms.

When buying South Africa 1 oz Gold Krugerrand coins and other Precious Metals, it’s important to know basic terms. South African Gold coins are priced based on the troy ounce Gold spot price in U.S. dollars. A 1 oz Gold bullion coin weighs one troy ounce, which is slightly more than the standard ounce commonly used in the U.S. The spot price of Gold is the price of unfabricated Gold. Gold coins are purchased with a premium price, which includes costs for fabrication, distribution, nominal dealer fees and any numismatic or collector value. The price of Gold coins also may be sold in local currencies, but those Gold prices are always converted from the Gold price in U.S. dollars.

Know how Gold coins, Gold bars and Gold rounds differ when investing.

Gold coins like South Africa 1 oz Gold Krugerrand coins are just one type of Gold bullion you can buy to add to your investment portfolio. Coins like the South African Gold coin tend to have numismatic or collector value which boosts their value. Older, rarer 1 oz Gold bullion coins have the highest numismatic value. In addition to Gold coins, you will also find Gold bars and Gold rounds for sale. These Gold bullion bars and rounds typically have little numismatic value and are generally closer to the Gold spot price. While Gold coins are made by government mints, Gold bars and Gold rounds are typically manufactured at private mints.

KRUGs are great too

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I like the color variation - more orangish tone if nothing else makes the Krug more interesting rather than having all ones bullion coins the more typical gold color. The 22k alloy also makes it more tough.

  • Pros
  • Attractive Design
  • Mint Condition
  • Recognized Brand
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
