7 Wonders of the Ancient World
APMEX is proud to present the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World series. This exciting series will include seven releases featuring limited mintages of 7,777 Silver and 77 Gold, respectively. Each release of Silver and Gold rounds features a beautiful design of a mystical wonder of the ancient world and an effigy of a historical figure relevant to the subject, along with a denomination applicable to the period.
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were a massive area of tiered gardens containing a wide variety of beautiful plant life. This wonder is the only landmark of the seven to not have a verified location, and has captivated the world for centuries due to this mysterious quality. The structure of the gardens is considered to be a massive engineering accomplishment for the time period, designed in a way that made efficient use of flowing water. The round captures this design concept beautifully, featuring ascending platforms of trees, shrubs, and vines, with a waterfall flowing down and crashing into the flowing river beneath. Also featured on the rounds is a portrait of King Hammurabi, a famous Babylonian king known for his invention of Hammurabi's Code. His effigy is displayed on the reverse along with a denomination accurate to the era.
This release follows the wildly popular inaugural release, the Colossus of Rhodes. The limited mintage nature of the series coupled with beautiful design elements and unique details of the rounds immediately captured the attention of collectors. Mintages sold quickly as many started the series. Act now to continue your collection with the Hanging Gardens of Babylon!

I found this series late. I missed the Colossus of Rhodes but this Hanging Gardens coin of limited mintage is a veritable work of art. This coin is a beautiful picture of what must have been a magnificent true wonder of the time. The Hammurabi portrait on the reverse side of the coin is highly detailed as well. I look forward to see what they do with the Great Pyramid of Giza in a future release.
