How is the price of Platinum coins affected by the demand for the Precious Metal?
When you buy Platinum coins, you are buying a Precious Metal that is in demand around the world. While the Platinum coin and Platinum jewelry market create some of the demand for the Precious Metal, the automobile industry generates the most demand, commanding over 40% of the market. The same Platinum used to fabricate these Australian coins is also used to make catalytic converters, which are used by automakers to reduce the amount of carbon monoxide emitted from automobiles. As more countries institute laws to reduce auto emissions, the demand for the Precious Metal will most likely increase, and subsequently cause the Platinum price per ounce to increase.
Add the Platinum coins to your wildlife coin collection.
Include the Platypus Australian coin in your wildlife coin collection, and gain a coin that celebrates one of the most unusual animals found in Australia. Platypuses, as seen on the reverse of these Platinum coins, are unique because they are one of only five mammal species that lay eggs rather then giving birth. This world coin is sure to become a conversation starter because even the appearance of the Platypus seems unworldly in that the mammal has visual traits common to ducks, beavers and otters. Buy these Platinum coins, and browse our inventory of Platinum coins for other wildlife-themed coins such as Platinum American Eagles and Platinum Koalas.

is one of the least chemically reactive materials known. That explains its importance in applicatons like catalysts etc. The abundance of platinum is roughly the same as of gold, but only few of the platinum deposits can be mined economically. Less than 200 tons of platinum is mined every year of which 80% is mined in South Africa. It is amazing that platinum can be bought occasionally below the price of gold. The platypus coin under review is very pretty, made with great attention to detail and selling at a very reasonable premium over spot. As usual, Apmex did an excellent job delivering the coin quickly and in excellent condition. Thank you!
