Let me start by saying that this is a great design. However, the finish is so shiny it's a bit ridiculous. It's one thing to have a shiny field on a proof coin, that also has satin relief, but this coin is just straight bling. The sad thing is that the detail in the coin really gets lost because it's honestly a bit hard to look at. I was pleasantly surprised, though, that this coin came with a snake privy stamped along the rim. It's a nice, unique touch. It also came in great, fresh-from-the-mint condition. Overall, I'd recommend it, but not because it's easy to look at in bright light.
- Pros
- Value (low premium over spot)
- Attractive Design
- Easy to Sell
- Mint Condition
- Recognized Brand
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Brilliant Uncirculated? More like Boring with a capital "B"! The artwork on this coin is very beautiful, but the coin itself looks like it is chromed over, like that of children's play toy money. You know, the toy sets we uses to beg our Mom to buy us at the grocery store when we were 4 years old. I probably asked a 1,000 times, but never got the plastic coins I always wanted. That is probably the root cause of my silver stacking addiction, and this coin brought back those wretched memories. Maybe I am being a little dramatic, but hey, the british are way more dramatic with their catchy britpop tunes. The Silver Britannia's features do get lost in the soft detail of the design, and with out any matte finish it is like holding a shiny blob of a coin. I really wanted to love this coin and give it a 5 star rating but just can't do it. If the british could get Perth to make this coin with their signature gloss to matte ratio, this coin would be amazing with the design it has.

Merchant response: This is a classic design and is one of the most popular silver coins released on an annual basis. This was the first year the Royal Mint struck a Brilliant Uncirculated coin in .999 silver and a considerable departure from the last 25 years. It is a great bullion coin for anyone staking silver. We apologize if what you received wasn't what you were hoping for. We've notified our customer service team and asked them to reach out to you in an effort to perhaps exchange or return your items.

The 1oz. Silver Britannia is a beautiful coin and has nice deep detail on both sides and makes for an interesting coin collection. Now I usually collect coins and bullion mainly for saving, but I do also like them for looking at. For me coins and bullion are like seeing into the past and just wondering about the history of it.I just wish I had lots of money so I could buy lots of these, these are totally worth the price in my opinion.

- Attractive Design

I've always liked the Britannias for a lot of reasons -- great design, relatively low mintages, easy to resell as needed, etc. But they do have the same milk spotting issues as Maple Leafs and ASEs. So caveat emptor. A few of the ones in the roll had some minor spotting. Obviously I don't blame APMEX for that, as it's a Royal Mint problem. But it's something to keep in mind when buying Britannias.

The bullion value and the strength of the underlying currency make these a steal, at current market prices. I've warmed up to what I originally felt was a plain design. Regardless, as a collector or investor, Brittanias are a value buy. They will appreciate in maket value and as a collectible. Thanks APMEX.

The coins came in a container, well packaged and of course, were of superior quality. I inspected for flaws and repackaged. It's nice to know these can be used for an IRA. The quality so impressed me that as time goes on I will more likely add more to my holdings.
