The MintDirect® process guarantees that the coins you receive are untouched since leaving the U.S. Mint. Gold Eagles have been in high demand since they were first introduced in 1986. MintDirect® Eagles are available in singles and tubes; in addition, they come in a variety of sizes, from smaller fractional Eagles to the popular 1 oz coin.

APMEX has created a process to guarantee these coins come direct from the U.S. Mint to you. This process seals the coin within the card, creating a tamper-evident package that guarantees your investment indefinitely. APMEX individually seals each MintDirect® coin to ensure that the authenticity and condition of each coin is protected after they are removed directly from the mint tubes. Each coin is placed in a protective authentication card composed of a non-reactive plastic polymer to protect your coin’s finish.

The sealing process seals the Gold coin within the authentication card, creating a tamper-evident package that will guarantee your investment indefinitely. If the tamper-evident package has been opened in any way, you will know it. After the process is completed, the coin in tamper-evident package is removed from the machine and checked to ensure that the quality of the packaging meets our exacting standards. By using this process, APMEX can guarantee that the coins you receive are authentic and in the exact condition as they were when they left the United States Mint.

That said, investors and collectors looking to purchase Gold Eagles affordably without the MintDirect premium should consider the regular 1/10th oz Gold Eagle. This is the smallest size produced currently and will be slightly cheaper than any of the other Gold Eagle variations.

This program began with the 2020 Silver Eagles, but has now expanded to include other popular programs from trusted mints worldwide. This partnership with PCGS brings added value to the popular MintDirect® Premier products. MintDirect® Premier products in their sealed packaging will remain eligible for the FirstStrike® designation if submitted to PCGS for grading long after new FirstStrike®-eligible coins are typically gone from the market. Previously, coins had to be stored in sealed monster boxes in secure, PCGS-approved storage locations since before the FirstStrike® deadline to qualify for this designation.
