Perth Mint Silver Kangaroo Coins
The 1 oz Silver Kangaroo Bullion coins were first released in 2016. Each 1 oz coin has been struck in .9999 fine Silver, making it highly desirable to investors and collectors. The Silver Kangaroo has an Australian legal tender value of $1 (AUD). However, intrinsic value is worth more than a dollar in silver and fluctuates as the silver spot price changes.
The reverse of the 2016 Silver Kangaroo coins features a classic red kangaroo mid-bound in front of a stylized starburst, designed by Dr. Stuart Devlin. The obverse bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the "1 Dollar" denomination. As a Perth Mint first, the coin includes an authentication feature on the reverse in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter "A" within the first A of "Australia," it is only detectable under a magnifying glass.
Another popular silver coin is the United States' American Silver Eagle, known for its iconic design and status as the official silver bullion coin of the United States. While the Silver Kangaroo coins offer their own unique appeal, investors often favor the Silver Eagle for its recognized purity, widespread liquidity, and historical significance in the global precious metals market.

About the Perth Mint
The Perth Mint is in Perth, Western Australia. It was established in 1899 as a branch of the Royal Mint of London, with the purpose of refining gold from Western Australia's goldfields. In 1931, the Perth Mint became the exclusive producer of Australian gold sovereigns and introduced Australian silver coins with unique Australian designs.
In the late 1980s, the Perth Mint underwent a significant modernization program, incorporating innovative technologies and expanding its product range to include bullion and commemorative coins. In 1987, the Perth Mint was privatized and acquired by Gold Corporation, a statutory authority of the Western Australian government.
The Perth Mint is accredited by the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) and the Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE), further cementing its reputation in the global precious metals industry.
