Silver Eagle Design
To ring in the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle coin program, the United States Mint updated the reverse designs of their 2021 Silver Eagles. The new coins started appearing in mid-year 2021. The design of the 2021 Silver Eagle was illustrated by AIP Designer Emily Damstra and sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso. The 2021 American Silver Eagle depicts a single eagle flying in to land, holding an oak branch as if to add it to a nest. The 2023 Eagles feature these Type 2 designs and continue the legacy of this renowned series.

The American Silver Eagle Coin Series Original Design
The Walking Liberty design was originally used in circulation during a period when American coinage aesthetics were lacking. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar was minted between 1916 and 1947. The design widely resonated with the public, who saw it as a reminder of American ideals, opportunity and patriotism. The obverse of the American Eagle coin features a full-length figure of Liberty designed by Adolph A. Weinman, enveloped in folds of the flag and with her right hand extended and holding branches of laurel and oak.
