These are typically larger coins, often with a diameter of around 38-42 mm, and are usually made from precious metals such as silver, but sometimes gold or other metals.

The National Palace of Pena (Palacio de Pena) is a Portuguese historical palace located on one of the peaks of the mountains of Sintra, a city near Lisbon. It is characterized by its multiple bright colors of yellow, purple, blue and red. It was built by Prince Ferdinand of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha - King Consort of Portugal, of German origin and Portuguese by adoption following his alliance with Queen Marie II.
