DC Comics Justice League
The Justice League was a reimagining of the Justice Society of America by Gardner Fox, a writer from DC Comics. The first issue the Justice League appeared in was in March 1960 DC Comics issue 28, The Brave and the Bold. The original superhero team members were Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter. Other superheroes have joined and departed since. In November of 1960, the new team got their own comic book titled "Justice League of America."

Superman
The last son of the dying planet Krypton, Superman was born Kal El and sent to Earth as a baby by his Kryptonian parents Lara and Jor-El before the planet exploded. The spaceship carrying Kal-El would travel many light years before landing in a cornfield in Smallville, Kansas, where he would be found by his adoptive parents Jonathan and Martha Kent. The Kents named Kal-El Clark Kent and raised him up to embody truth, justice and the American way. In his journey to become Superman, Clark would discover his true origins within the fortress of solitude where the disembodied remnants of his Kyrptonian father Jor-El would teach him everything he needed to know.

Superman is the personification of an ideal where great power is wielded with great virtue to defend the innocent and punish evil-doers. Superman lives his life as a mild-mannered reporter working for the Daily Planet along with his love interest Lois Lane, whom he frequently rescues. Superman's extensive abilities come from Krypton's much harsher environment and the effects of Earth's yellow sun. These abilities include such powers as ice breath, heat vision, flight, super strength, invulnerability, super speed and super hearing. His only vulnerability is Kryptonite, the radioactive remnants of his home planet.
