The 300th anniversary of the founding of York County, Maine was the reason that this coin was minted. It depicts a rendition of the shield of the Seal of York County on the obverse and a depiction of a fort (Brown's Garrison) on the reverse. It was designed by Walter Rich of Portland.
This half dollar was authorized by Congress upon the 300th anniversary of the founding of York County, Maine. This example is graded MS-65 by NGC in an older generation holder and certified by CAC.
