In January of 1809, the British ship Admiral Gardner sank in a storm in the English Channel. In addition to loss of life, there was a significant loss of copper coinage that had been struck for use by the East India Company.

Product Highlights:
  • Clump of Indian cash export coins fused together with sand coral and different bits of debris. This is a genuine shipwreck artifact from the Admiral Gardner of the East India Company, which had shipped these coins for the Madras Presidency Colony.
  • These coins come packaged in an informative COA explaining the history of the wreck and the coins.
  • This clump of coins has varying levels of corrosion. Some coins are preserved in nearly BU condition where they were not hit with sand or corrosive salt water.
