here is a small failure in APMEX's product description, What is not said is that this box is NOT designed with an air-tight capsule in mind. it does say that a 1oz coin will fit (remember the USD coin is 40.6mm not 40) and so with this box your coin is subject to oxidation thus reducing the value of the coin. If you don't mind that it is an excellent way to show the coin.

I use this box to present silver eagles to my grandchildren when they excel in school or accomplish a milestone. This box just adds so much to the gift. Even though they know what is inside, they love the "unveiling".

I bought it to host a 2002 Silver Eagle that is going to be a special gift for my daughter. Very happy about it, really enhance the gift aspect of the coin for $5, even though it is a $20 coin.

Great fit for any 1 oz American Silver Eagles. Now I don't have to worry about my coins getting scratched or blemished in any way, shape, or form. Nice velvet texture inside and out provides an adequate cushion to protect the coin.
