I love the 2014 design, so I bought all the rounds from 1/2oz to 10oz. The 5oz fits very poorly in the protective capsule. So poorly that it moves freely from side to side...which is apparently causing wear on both the coin and the capsule. I have since purchased the 2012 Dragon design and found the same sloppy issue with the 5oz. Now when I show off the set, I don't even bother bringing out the 5oz. Disappointing. I guess I could remove them from the capsule and put them in a bag, but I will probably just avoid the 5oz Apmex Lunars from now on.

- Value (low premium over spot)

- Cons
- Poor Condition
- Bottom Line

This was my first purchase with APMEX and I was very happy with the turn around time with shipping. I wanted something unique to rebuild my investments. Gold, being too volatile and with everyone chasing Bitcoins (based purely on emotional distaste for our currency market), I wanted something that historically has held its value. I have always liked the tangible market, and its easy to explain to a layperson, and this is not a derivative of a stock, not an option and people sometimes feel at a loss not understanding what drives the market. Silver is the everyman's gold. Perhaps because of bad dealer's, people have walked away from silver for now, but silver is a real commodity that has an abundance of industrial uses and very few new stores of silver are being found. With this being my first purchase at APMEX, I was impressed. This arrived securely packaged, the coin encased in a protective cover, the engraving was clear, and yes, there is that temptation to want to handle the piece. I plan on keeping this and continue grow my silver holdings along the way. I love the design on this coin and since I was also born in the year of the Horse, it's kind of a vanity purchase, but it also is an investment for me and also has the potential to be a future heirloom piece for my son, who was also born in the year of the horse.
