Julian/Morganthau signatures—Friedberg#2303.

These series 1934-A $10 Federal Reserve Notes were printed with brown Treasury seals and serial numbers and bold "HAWAII" overstamps for use in Hawaii and the west coast during World War II.

It may be hard to believe today, but during the first few months following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the threat of a Japanese invasion was anything but remote. The government issued currency like this in denominations of $1, $5, $10, & $20 dollars so that they could be rendered worthless by the Treasury Department in case any of them fell into enemy hands.
