Berlin Krugerrand Launch Set
This commemorative set was created through a collaboration of both the South African Mint and the Imperial German Mint. South Africa hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and they were nominated as guest of honor at the 39th Berlin World Money Fair. To celebrate this special occasion, the launch set was created and features a 1 oz Proof Krugerrand with the mint mark of the Berlin Bear together with "Berlin" on the obverse. This set also includes a silver medallion which was co-designed by both mints.

South African Mint
The South African Mint manufactures Proof Krugerrand, and works with the Rand Refinery to mint the bullion Krugerrand. The mint produces coins on behalf of and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the South African Reserve Bank. In 1886, gold was discovered near the Witwatersrand area of Johannesburg and President Paul Kruger decided to establish a national mint. Today, the South African Mint is one of the world's top exporting mints.
