Product Details
A remarkable collaboration between Monnaie de Paris and the Louvre museum highlighting Egyptian work within the museum. The mintage of this coin is extremely low, with only 500 coins produced from the Monnaie de Paris' French Excellence collection.

Coin Highlights:
  • Contains 1/4 oz of .999 fine gold.
  • This magnificent coin comes in a box with a certificate of authenticity from the Monnaie de Paris.
  • Mintage of 500 coins.
  • Obverse: Features the great sphinx of Tanis in front of representations of the Moon God Khonsu and the Divine worshipper Shepenupet on either side. Inscribed along the center at the bottom "1822-2022" is inscribed referring to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of hieroglyphics.
  • Reverse: Centered on the reverse, the God Amun, a main deity of Egyptian pantheon, is watching over Tutankhamun as a boy. The deity is surrounded by hieroglyphs from the inscriptions on the resting case that once belonged to Divine worshipper Shepenupet. The pyramid in between the deity and the hieroglyphs establishes a timeless link between the past and present heritage and is adorned with the cartouches of Tutankhamun.

About the Louvre Museum
The Louvre, once the palace of kings, has embraced France's history for eight centuries. Over 35,000 works are universally admired and divided into nine different departments.

Monnaie de Paris
Founded in 1864, not only is Monnaie de Paris France's longest standing institution, but it is also the oldest enterprise in the world. Today, the mint strikes circulation coins for France, as well as beautiful gold and silver commemorative coin programs that are each intricately designed works of art. The mint is also home to a museum that hosts exhibitions, tours and workshops as well as the Guy Savoy Restaurant.
