This series 1914 $5 Federal Reserve Note is from the Chicago District. This note has been certified by PCGS. A nice red seal note.

Currency Highlights:
  • The first of the Federal Reserve Notes issued for general circulation.
  • Certified Very Fine-20 and comes sealed in a Mylar PCGS Currency holder.
  • Signature combination of Burke/McAdoo—Friedberg #838b.
  • Face: A central portrait of Abraham Lincoln, 16th president, flanked by the Federal Reserve and Treasury department seals.
  • Back: Depicts the "Landing of Columbus" at left, and "Landing of the Pilgrims" at right.

Series 1914 Federal Reserve Notes were the first of this type issued after the Federal Reserve Act passed in 1913. This established the banking system and uniform currency that exists to this day. Denominations from Five Dollars through Ten Thousand Dollars, and districts A through L, (Boston through San Francisco) were established.
