Silver Eagle Design
The United States Mint began issuing updated reverse designs for the 2021 Silver Eagles in 2020. The designs first appeared on coins beginning in mid-year 2021, marking the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle coin series. Emily Damstra designed the 2021 Silver Eagle, which was then sculpted by Michael Gaudioso. The resulting coin shows a lone eagle flying in to land, carrying an oak branch in its talons.
This new artwork will appear on American Eagle coins from now on, and you can add a 2023 Eagle with the Type 2 designs to your collection or portfolio today!
The American Silver Eagle Coin Series Original Design
The classic Walking Liberty design first appeared in 1916 on the half dollar as a part of an effort to add more beauty to American coinage. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar was minted from 1916 to 1947 and was an instant hit. The design was intended to inspire by invoking American ideals and patriotism. Weinman's famous design shows Liberty personified walking with an American flag wrapped around her. Her right hand is extended, and her left hand holds laurel and oak branches.
