Cadillac 1914 and 1915 Logos
Cadillac's logo design was altered yet again in 1914. It was the company's third redesign in 12 years. The nameplate was on it, and was made in an embellished typeface. The designer highlighted the wordmark and placed it inside a black spherical frame. Unfortunately, it only lasted a year.

The 1915 Cadillac logo uses design elements from the 1908 edition. The designer also included a floral wreath and a crown, in addition to the crest and ducks. He then attached two leaves to the frame's ends, creating a pair of wings. These elongated leaves resembled the sight of wings graphically. This emblem was used by the company for approximately five years.

Cadillac is one of the world's first automobiles, fourth in the United States only to Autocar Company (1897) and fellow GM marques Oldsmobile (1897) and Buick (1899). The company's name is derived from Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, a French-Canadian fur trader who became the founder of Detroit, Michigan. His coat of arms served as inspiration for the Cadillac crest.

Cadillac had already established itself as one of the country's top luxury automobile makers by the time General Motors bought it in 1909. Its precision components' complete interchangeability had allowed it to establish the foundation for today's mass production of automobiles. It was at the forefront of technological advancements, including full electrical systems, a clashless manual gearbox and a steel roof. The brand introduced three engines that set the bar for American vehicle manufacturing.

A Cadillac car produced by the United States won the Royal Automobile Club of the United Kingdom's Dewar Trophy in 1908, demonstrating the interchangeability of its components during a reliability test; as a result, Cadillac announced its slogan "Standard of the World." The Duryeas was the first automobile to carry a full electrical system, which it obtained for its outstanding design and performance. In 1912, it won for incorporating electric starting and lighting in a mass-produced vehicle.

Cadillac was the car brand of choice for the famous Elvis Presley, who owned over 100 Cadillac cars in his lifetime.

Harley Jarvis Earl was the first head designer at General Motors and eventually became its vice president. He was the first to come up with a “concept car” and used his engineering and design background to craft some of GM and Cadillac’s most iconic car designs and features, including the tailfin and the Chevrolet Corvette. General Motors was also one of the first automotive companies to hire designers who were women to add a feminine perspective in the mid-1950s. Their group of “Damsels in Design” included Suzanne Vanderbilt, Jeanette Linder, Ruth Glennie, Sandra Longyear, Marjorie Ford Pohlman and Peggy Sauer—each worked on the interiors of different GM brands, along with four other women—Gere Kavanaugh, Jan Krebs, Dagmar Arnold and Jayne Van Alstyne—who worked on car displays and other projects.

2022 marks Cadillac’s 120th anniversary, a huge milestone for the company.
