This scarce commemorative type set represents over a decade of Gold Grove medal varieties struck by the Mexican Mint. Offered here as it was originally assembled in a Capital Plastics case, this set offers a rare opportunity to an astute collector.
Set Highlights:
- This set is composed of 8 medallic gold pieces struck by the Bank of Mexico between 1953-1963.
- The total gold weight of this set is 5.5462 AGW.
- This set is composed of the following:
- 1957 Mexico Gold Medallic 10 Peso Constitution Centennial. Contains .2411 oz actual gold weight.
- Obverse: Features a bust of Benito Juarez, the leader who oversaw the adoption of Mexico's 1857 constitution.
- Reverse: Displays Mexico's coat of arms featuring a golden eagle devouring a snake. This centennial commemorative displays an older style coat of arms, one contemporary to the mid-19th century, as would have been used on coins at the time of the constitution's signing.
- Listed in Krause as KM#M123a.
- 1953 Mexico Gold Medallic 10 Peso Hildalgo 200th anniversary. Contains .2411 oz actual gold weight.
- Obverse: Features a half length bust of Hidalgo facing left.
- Reverse: Displays Mexico's coat of arms featuring a golden eagle devouring a snake. This centennial commemorative displays an older style coat of arms, one contemporary to the early-19th century.
- Listed in Krause as KM#M91A.
- 1953 Mexico Gold Medallic Birth of Hidalgo 20 Pesos. Contains .4823 oz actual gold weight.
- Obverse: Features the bust of Hidalgo and double dates: 1753-1953.
- Reverse: Eagle on a cactus eating a snake.

- 1962 Mo Medallic Gold 20 Peso. Contains .4823 oz of gold.
- Obverse: Mexican coat of arms featuring a golden eagle perched atop a cactus, devouring a snake. Date below wing.
- Reverse: Left facing bust with laurel wreath below.

- 1959 Mexico Gold Medallic 20 Peso Carranza Centenary. Contains .4823 oz actual gold weight.
- Obverse: Features the bust of Venustiano Carranza and double dates: 1859-1959.
- Reverse: Depicts the Monumento a la Revolucion, which is now a mausoleum containing the remains of Carranza and other famous Mexican revolutionaries. Surrounding legend: "V. CARRANZA - CENTENARIO DE SU NATALICIO," which translates to "V. Carranza - Centenary of his birth."

- Reverse: The Mexican national coat of arms, featuring a golden eagle devouring a snake perched atop a cactus.

- 1961-1963-Mo Medallic 50 Pesos struck to commemorate Emiliano Zapata. Contains 1.2057 oz of gold.
- Only 110 pieces were struck by the Mexican Mint.
- Obverse: Emiliano Zapata on a horse speaking with a peasant of the revolution.
- Reverse: Mexican flag with coat of arms. "Plan De Ayala Reforma, Libertad Justicia y Ley."
