The Sunshine Mint

The Sunshine Mint (SMI) is a private mint specializing in bullion products, including silver rounds and bars. It is known for its high-quality craftsmanship and security features incorporated into its bullion products.

The Sunshine Mint, based in the United States, was founded in 1979 and has since become a trusted name in the precious metals industry. Investors and collectors highly regard their products for their purity, weight, and intricate designs.

One notable feature of Sunshine Mint's products is the MintMark SI™ security feature. This unique security consists of a micro-engraved security mark on the surface of the bullion. The mark is visible under magnification and serves to authenticate Sunshine Mint's products and protect against counterfeiting.

In addition to producing bullion for its brand, the Sunshine Mint also provides minting services to other entities, including government mints, private companies, and organizations. This has further solidified its reputation as a reliable and reputable mint in the industry.

Overall, the Sunshine Mint is known for its commitment to quality, innovation in security features, and contributions to the production of bullion products in the precious metals market.

What Sunshine Mint Silver Bars does APMEX Offer?

We sell five types of Sunshine Mint Silver Bars in five different weights. I offer 1 oz, 5 oz, 10 oz, and 100 oz bars. These bars are all .999 (three 9) silver. We offer discounts for volume purchases and these bars are eligible for precious metal IRAs. Often these bars are available for less than $7 over the silver spot price.

These silver bars feature Mint Mark SI™ security feature. Using a Sunshine Minting Decoder Lens, you can authenticate your purchase. These bars also include the Sunshine Mint mark which features an eagle and sun rays.

What is the Difference Between the Two 10-ounce Bars?

We offer two Sunshine Mint 10-ounce silver bars:

  • 10 oz Silver Bar - Sunshine (Vintage, Dated)
  • 10 oz Silver Bar - Sunshine (Mint Mark SI)

Besides the price, a few details make these coins different from one another. They are both .999 pure silver, but the vintage version is marked as ten troy ounces while the Mint Mark version is marked as ten ounces. The vintage bar also features the year. We randomly sell the bars minted in the years 1982 through 1990. In terms of thickness, they are close at 6.7 mm and 7 mm. The vintage version does not include the MintMark SI™ security feature. Instead, it has Sunshine bullion wording on the reverse.

Investing in Silver Bars

Investors choose silver bars for numerous reasons, including the diversification that silver offers to precious metal portfolios, global demand for the white metal, as well as its potential for growth. Bars carry lower premiums that rounds and coins, and these lower premiums provide investors with the lowest prices over spot. It's worth comparing bars from different mints at a specified size so you can find the most cost effective option for your needs. Some examples to explore areour 5 oz silver bar collection and 100 oz silver bar collection.
