The woodland caribou now features in the Animal Portrait series from the Royal Canadian Mint. Canada's woodland caribou species is a subspecies of the broader reindeer and is the largest subspecies of caribou.

Coin Highlights:
  • Contains 3/4 oz of .9999 fine Silver.

Historically, the boreal woodland caribou in North America had a range that covered more than half of present-day Canada from the border with Alaska in the west to Newfoundland and Labrador. The boreal woodland caribou once resided in the U.S. across New England, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, with extremely small populations left in Idaho and Washington.
