The dragon is the fifth sign of the twelve-year lunar calendar. 2024 is the year of the wood dragon, according to Chinese element theory. Those born in this year are known for their intelligence, ambition and success.
Royal Australian Mint
Royal Australian Mint, located in Canberra, is well known for their popular releases of domed proof coins, lunar coins, and limited mintage bullion releases in both silver and gold. Whoever allowed this "eco-friendly" coin case at the RAM should lose their job. To put a fine coin like this in a cheap cardboard box to "help the environment" as if it were a Big Mac box that people will throw away after using was a mistake. The coin itself is lovely and the design wins the contest for best lunar dragon of 2024 but the cardboard paper box collects oily fingerprints easily and unlike a proper case, can't be wiped off. Nor does it hold the coin well but lets it fall out and slosh around inside so that after just opening it I see the capsule has a couple small scratches on the queen side already. Unlike a proper case you can't tilt the coin up to look at because the box won't hold it. 5 stars for the coin, 0 stars for case.
