Also shown is Daphne, a nymph who fled from Apollo's love. As the legend goes, Daphne transformed herself into a laurel tree just before Apollo catches her. The design also includes the inscription "APOLLO" and The Perth Mint's "P" mint mark.

Apollo appeals to his musical talents, playing the lyre and the unforgettable story of his unrequited love for Daphne is also incorporated into the design.
