Hawksbill turtles are found throughout the tropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. Named for their narrow, pointed beak, they are also recognizable by a distinctive pattern of overlapping scales on their exquisitely colored shells. This species prefers coastlines and coral reefs where they can find sponges, a primary food source for these omnivores.
Making incredible migrations to move from feeding sites to tropical beaches that serve as nesting grounds, Hawksbill turtles come to New Zealand every year from Fiji. Although they’ve been sighted as far south as Cook Strait, they are mostly seen in the upper North Island of New Zealand in the clear, shallow waters of the island shelve.
Like many sea turtles, hawksbills are a critically endangered species due mostly to human impact. Hawksbill eggs are still eaten around the world despite the turtle’s international protected status, and they are often killed for their flesh and their stunning shells that are highly valuable in some marketplaces.

This is a beautiful coin to add to my collection. I bought all 4 years and unfortunately the 2012 came with some toning on the rim and edge. The others were in great condition.
- Pros
- Attractive Design
- Collectible (lower mintage)
- Cons
- Poor Condition
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I think i should have bought a roll. Bought 2 in flip to see design in one ounce size. I think they will become more collectible due to last year of Queen reverse. I want a roll of 2k12 and 2k13 for that reason alone. Nicer bullion than the 5 ouncer-mine arrived scratched due to loose fitting capsule and extremely sharp rim. I am learning if i want bullion flips are fine. If i want collectible order slabbed and graded or mint roll. I think it will be a rich man that invents cotton inserts for the plastic flips to keeps my rims un-rubbed and shiny. At least APMEX only does 1 coin per flip. I have used other dealers that seem to insist on 2 coins per double flip. Like they need to save 3 cents and have my 2 B.U. rims rub together. Thanks again APMEX for another great box of silver. If the cotton insert idea pans out I prefer bullion as opposed to cash for royalty compensation. You have my address ;)
