I am ashamed to be concerned about a cardboard box but the box was well taken care of-the opening was still taped up as if the box had never been opened. The bar was magnificent and brilliant.

The bars themselves were in perfect shape and they sure were heavy. The boxes were in pretty good shape too but the stamp on the outside of the box was severely faded. The "matching" serial number on the box and the bar pretty much consisted of someone hand-scribing the number so they matched. Certainly wasn't even close to the pristine picture we saw on the product listing (which was one of the reasons why I purchased this product for Matching Serial Numbers on both bar and box). In hindsight I guess I could have purchased the cheaper version of the product and hand-marked the serial number on the outside myself. So far this is the only issue I've had with an Apmex purchase...so I'm a little disappointed.

I love these vintage bars which are no longer produced. Nice "brick" of silver and I think the design will hinder anyone with bad intentions to tamper with the bar. There's alot of design-work and texturing on the front and back which I think would discourage someone from wanting to alter or tamper with the bar. I buy these when I can find them, especially if they have the matching SN'd box. Only con is they run at a higher premium, but then again these are great vintage bars of "real money."
