The 1907 High Relief Saint-Gaudens Coins were deemed impractical for mass production because of the actual thickness and height of the relief. The present example is a darker yellow-gold color with some very minor marks as would be expected on an MS-63.
Coin Highlights:
- PCGS encapsulation offers protection and guarantees the condition of the coin.
- Obverse: Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the obverse depicts Liberty striding forward holding a torch and an olive branch with the U.S. Capitol building in the backdrop.
- Reverse: Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the reverse features an eagle in flight against the sun in the background.
- High Relief Saints were struck at least three times to bring up the substantial level of detail present. Because of the high relief of the designs the coins did not stack and were unsuitable for commercial use, leading to the low relief design that was struck for circulation.
This coin would be a great addition to any collection so act now and add to your cart today!
