MS-63+ PCGS $5 Liberty Gold Half Eagle

The Liberty Gold Half Eagle was designed by James B. Longacre, based on the $10 Liberty Gold coin and made of 90% pure 24 karat Gold, was first minted in 1838. The Liberty $5 was larger than its predecessor measuring 21 mm in diameter and a .835 thickness with a reeded edge.

The $5 Liberty coin was designed with a woman on the front facing left with an olive branch in her right hand and seven stars encircling her head above LIBERTY in capital letters. The reverse side is based on the Great Seal of the U.S. which shows an American Bald Eagle holding a bundle of arrows and an olive branch. On the reverse side of the coin, it says UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and TWENTY DOLLARS surrounding a small Bald Eagle with its wings outstretched. These Liberty Gold Half Eagle coins are rare in all conditions which is why they are so valuable to collectors and investors alike.
