Silver Eagle Design
In 2020, the United States Mint revealed modified reverse designs for the 2021 Silver Eagles to celebrate the series’ 35th anniversary. The new design was created by AIP Designer Emily Damstra and sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso. The 2021 American Silver Eagle design depicts a lone eagle coming in for a landing, carrying an oak branch as if to add it to a nest.
The American Silver Eagle Coin Series Original Design
The Walking Liberty design has been used as a coin many times before. Weinman's Walking Liberty artwork was used during a time when coinage style was lacking. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar was produced from 1916 to 1947 and it was beloved because it embodied different American values, such as patriotism and opportunity. The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman's full-length figure of Liberty walking swiftly with her right hand extended and holding branches of laurel and oak in her left.
Produced in limited quantities with a mirror-like Proof finish and in PR-70 condition, this 2023 Silver American Eagle features the First Day of Issue designation and features a label hand-signed by Emily Damstra, designer of the new Type 2 reverse.
