Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ $10 Gold Eagle is universally regarded one of the most breathtaking designs ever featured on American coinage. Augustus Saint-Gaudens was commissioned by President Theodore Roosevelt to redesign all American Gold coinage. Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Indian Gold Eagle design made an appearance on $10 Gold Eagles struck between the years 1907 and 1933 when President Franklin Roosevelt recalled all circulating Gold coinage and melted it down for its intrinsic value.
