Introduced in 1823, the Cap and Rays design was used on the 8 Reales and the Peso until 1910. These are problem coins which may be holed, exhibit cleaning or have other problems.
Coin Highlights:- Contains .7859 oz Silver, and are slightly larger than a U.S. Silver dollar.
- Coins will be in protective packaging, and dates may vary from 1823-1897.
- Obverse: Mexican coat of arms featuring a golden eagle perched atop a cactus, devouring a snake.
- Reverse: Radiant Phrygian cap, symbolic of liberty, with denomination, mint mark, date, assayer initials and composition below.
- Produced at a variety of mints throughout Mexico from 1823 to 1897, when the Spanish Real was replaced by the Mexican Peso.
