Series 1935-G $1 Silver Certificates were transitional. They were the last not to have the motto, and the first type of U.S. paper money to be printed with the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" on the back.
The 84th Congress passed legislation in 1956 requiring all paper money printed after that time to have this motto. It was signed into law by President Eisenhower, and the first notes bearing the motto were released into circulation on October 1, 1957.
The 1935-G notes without the motto had a larger printing than their With Motto counterparts, but still a relatively small printing of Star Notes with just over 8.6 million of these examples making them highly sought after by collectors.
This is a 1935-G* $1 Silver Certificate (Star note) had a relatively small printing of just over 31 million notes. That is a small number when compared to most of the earlier 1935 issues that had been printed in the billions.
