  • Product Details
Large Cents were the first cent produced by the U.S. Mint. This coin is the more elusive small date variety, as denoted by the curl-topped "2" in the date. As dies broke and were re-engraved, varieties such as this one were known to occur.

    Coin Highlights:
    • Struck in pure Copper.
    • Obverse: "Matron Head" interpretation of liberty.
    • Reverse: Denomination within wreath, legend around perimeter.
    • Designed by Robert Scot.
    • Coins from the Philadelphia Mint do not feature a mint mark.
    • There is a scratch through the word Cent on reverse.*

Handle your investments with care by adding these cotton gloves to your order.

Add this 1820 Large Cent Small Date VF to your cart today!

*An old scratch on the reverse on the word Cent. Otherwise this coin has excellent surfaces and details.
