    Pre-33 Gold Coins
Until 1933, when the United States removed the dollar from the Gold standard, the U.S. Mint produced a variety of Gold coins for use in commerce. They ranged from the diminutive Gold dollars up through the hefty $20 Gold Double Eagle, containing almost a full ounce of Gold. While minted in large numbers, untold numbers of these pre-1933 Gold coins were melted down in the 1930s as the United States government attempted to discontinue the circulation of Gold, even going so far as to order the confiscation and mandatory buyback of Gold coins held by citizens at the time, reducing the finite supply of these popular Gold coins.

The Liberty Gold Double Eagle Coin
Minted through 1907, the Liberty Double Eagle coin contains .9675 oz fine Gold, alloyed with Copper to improve its durability and wear characteristics. The design, introduced in 1850 by designer James Longacre, is one of the most iconic, easily recognizable images in numismatics. Due to the high value of U.S. $20 Gold coins, many were kept in limited circulation and stored away in vaults, making high-grade coins surprisingly attainable given their age. Due to their limited circulation use, the coins offered here will show nearly full detail of this classic design.

Note: Dates on these random year coins will be of our choosing and may or may not vary, determined by stock on hand.
