The Pittman Act of 1918 resulted in the melting of half of the mintage, making the 1902-S Morgan Dollar even more desirable to collectors on top of George T. Morgan's already beloved design of Liberty.
Coin Highlights:- Contains .7734 oz of Silver.

- Obverse: Shows Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap with the word "Liberty" on her hair band, bordered by "E Pluribus Unum," the date of issue and thirteen small stars representing the original colonies.
- Reverse: Features a bald eagle clutching an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, surrounded by "United States of America," "One Dollar," and "In God We Trust."
- Features the San Francisco Mint's "S" mint mark.

It was fascinating to discover that half the mintage of this year & mint mark were melted down. (Pitman Act) That means, in actuality, that only approx. 750,000 of these coins are available. To serious collectors that means something. This coin is in very good shape & is one of my better acquisitions. In fact, I think it's at least one grade up from what it was labeled. I never get tired of looking at them. Thanks, APMEX, you do a good job with these Morgan's.
