Great Coin but Bullion

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Coin Show Dealers consider this as just Bullion and you will be lucky to get spot on any resale. Not something you will see at any coin shows.

I bought two of these back when they were only around $950/oz. and at the time only $20 more /oz than the 2007. Now they are each worth more at least $700 more than when purchased and $200 more each than the 2007, thus showing the comparative value of the two. Since they are two of 30,000 they will remain in original card/capsule in my collection along with a perfect rated 2009 ultra high relief double eagle and a perfect rated 2009 UC Proof Am. Buffalo. Each of my kids has claimed one of those and one each of the Maple leaves as part of inheritance. These are 4 of the finest looking coins i have seen in my lifetime.

This is a great goin, it is the second in a series of three coins and I think it is the nicest. It has a low mintage and is seemingly much more rare than the previous or following years. The card it comes in is a highly polished plastic coated card which tends to scuff up easily even when new they are often a bit scratched. I have not opened mine so can't comment on the quality of the minting.

Undoubtedly one of the finest minted 1oz coin around. Any of the sealed coins are the best, given the purity. Given the rarity of the coin, worth the extra money.

Amazing detail. The coin is just extremely eye pleasing and the five 99999 purity makes it very unique and valuable. In addition, the fact that there are only 3 coins in the series (2007 - 2009) makes it very easy to complete and pass on to the next generation. The Canadian Mint truly outdone themselves this time. Can't wait to get my hands on the 2009 one.

The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) has released a uniquely designed 2008 edition of the .99999 (that's five 9s!) pure one-ounce gold Maple Leaf. This gold coin represents a new standard in investment products and is the only .99999 pure gold bullion coin currently produced by a government mint. 2008 Gold Maple Leaf coins are especially difficult to locate. I was amazed when I saw this coin for sale and decided that I have to own it. The 5 9's Gold Maple Leaf is a three year program started in 2007. Each year the design will be changed with a very low mintage of these coins. The 2008 design is amazing and the best gold coin I have ever seen in my life. I called a lot of Gold bullion sellers in Dallas to find out the price of this coin but I was very disappointed to know that they were not even aware about the existence of such coin. What a shame!!! Finally I found the coin on APMEX and ordered the coin as a New Year Gift to myself. I had purchased this coin for $1223 and the value is appreciated a lot.
