Born of humble parents, Aurelian went on to become a great general and finally Emperor from A.D. 270 - 275. Surprisingly, he can be considered the father of Christmas! Aurelian established December 25 as the Festival of Sol, the Sun God, in A.D. 275. The Christians later adopted this date for Christmas so that their celebration would not be detected.
These authentic Roman coins from the 3rd Century are full of history, having circulated during turbulent ancient times. These would make great additions to any coin collection.

This is an excellent addition to my vintage coin collection. The story book that is included gives a great historical review of the time when the coin was minted.

This would be a great present for all those interested in the origins of Christmas. Of course the coin is old and very worn but it still would make a great gift. I bought several myself!
