  • Product Details
This 1892-CC Morgan Dollar, graded MS-62 by NGC, hails from the fabled Carson City Mint. Designed by George T. Morgan, it connects to the silver boom era. A highly sought-after date, well-preserved and special.

Imagine the dusty, bustling streets of Carson City, Nevada, in 1892. This silver dollar was struck in those very days, a product of the legendary Carson City Mint (denoted by the "CC" mint mark) during one of its final years of operation. Established near the massive Comstock Lode, this mint transformed raw silver into currency that fueled the nation's expansion, and its products carry a unique allure tied to the Wild West.

The coin itself is a masterpiece by George T. Morgan, the U.S. Mint's seventh Chief Engraver. On its obverse, Lady Liberty gazes left, her profile a classic emblem of American ideals, reportedly inspired by Philadelphia teacher Anna Willess Williams. The reverse showcases a majestic eagle with outstretched wings, clutching arrows and an olive branch, encircled by the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "ONE DOLLAR," and "In God we trust." Measuring 38.1 mm in diameter and 3.1 mm thick, this dollar weighs 2.130 ounces and contains 0.7734 troy ounces of .900 fine silver.

With a mintage of 1,352,000 pieces in 1892, this particular Carson City issue faced a unique journey. Unlike some of its counterparts, a significant portion of these coins entered circulation quickly, meaning many didn't survive in high grades. The historical record shows it was also scarcely found in the massive "GSA Hoard" of the 1970s, which makes finding one like this, certified MS-62 by NGC, quite special. It represents both the artistry of its designer and an important piece from the American frontier.
