This beautifully engraved $1,000 Gold Bond Certificate from the Louisiana Electric Light Company based in New Orleans was issued in 1892.

This beautifully engraved $1,000 Gold Bond Certificate from the Louisiana Electric Light Company based in New Orleans was issued in 1892.

Vignette depicts a cherub with torch on both sides of flying Mercury. Underprint image of old arc light bulb - the type of which was first used in 1879. At the time there were reports that "some women complained that the white light blanched their complexions in a most ghastly manner." Bottom image depicts woman harnessing the power of electricity as it stretches across the United States. Missing only a few coupons. Canceled.

Attractively housed in protective sleeve. Total dimensions are 16 1/2" tall x 22" wide which includes the face and the coupons - typically folded in half to a dimension of 8 1/4" x 11", with coupons behind face.
