Product Details
This popular commemorative was produced in 1950 to celebrate the opening of the Southern Railroad. Between its low mintage and unique, eye-catching reverse design, this is an extremely popular type for collectors.
Coin Highlights:- Contains .643 oz of silver.
- Coins are shipped in protective packaging.
- Reverse: A sun bearing the date 1950 rises behind a landscape prominently featuring a locomotive and palm trees.
- Obverse: The Mexican national coat of arms as depicted on the standard circulating 5 peso of the time, with denomination and date below, flanked by legends of weight and purity.
In addition to the intricate design, this coin had a mintage of only 200,000 pieces, half of which are believed to have been melted to produce the 1968 Olympic commemorative. A low survival rate certainly fits with their relative availability. These coins are tough to come by, especially in nice condition. Add one to your cart today! - Specifications
