From 1965 to '67, the mint issued SMS sets instead of true proof sets. The '67 example is considered to be the best of the bunch, almost to proof level. Seems to be the case.

I purchased this 1967 special mint set from APMEX because they had this year mint set that I couldn't locate anywhere on the internet. When other sellers do not have it , APMEX seem to have items that others do not have. APMEX Had the 1967 Special mint set In top quality Condition . The coins were outstanding As well as the packaging . Beautiful coins , Great product And Speedy Delivery !

This was my first time ordering from APMEX, and this decision was based solely on all of the reviews I've read over the past several months by satisfied customers. It appears my decision was correct. I collect Kennedy halves, and over the years I've seen both extremes when it comes to the quality of the product, and the honesty of the people involved. After all is said and done, we want to be handed the most magnificent examples of the coin(s) we ordered. That is what APMEX did for me. The mint box that contained the 1966 SMS was pristine, and looked as though it hadn't been touched or moved in 54 years. The coins were the same, and will grade higher, or as high as, the dozens of other SMS I've bought over the years. Thank you APMEX.
