Pre-1965 35% Silver coins, sometimes referred to as junk Silver or scrap Silver, are a great way to start your Silver investments. These Silver coins were pulled from circulation with the introduction of copper/nickel clad coins and the rising demand of Silver. The public saved them for their 35% Silver content as a rainy day fund they can fall back on.

These are just what you expect...filthy dirty war nickels at a nice low premium over spot. My $50 bag had exactly 1,000 coins. I checked each one for the mint mark over Monticello. They got it 99.7% right; one was a dateless buffalo, one was a '41, and one was a non-silver Philly '42.
- Pros
- Value (low premium over spot)
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

This was my first "junk silver" purchase from APMEX. I wish I would have bought two bags instead of one, so I can split with my brother. It took a me a weekend to count out all 999 nickels. All were properly weighted and genuine mostly 1942-p, 1944-p, 1943-s and 1945-p. 6 were AU, 993 were Average grade. They sent one (1) Barber nickel, 1913 instead (just kidding 1905 ave). Anyways, it was fun with my children and I look forward to my next transaction.
- Pros
- Value (low premium over spot)
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

A good way to hold non-numismatic silver. Widely recognized and accepted. Unlikely to have its silver content challenged. Low premium over spot which is the only consideration that really matters with this product. -keith-
