1881-CC Morgan Dollar MS-66 PCGS CAC
Designed by George T. Morgan with a mintage of just over 1 million, the 1881-CC is one of the scarcer Morgan Dollars. The 1881-CC Morgan Dollar was minted at the Carson City Mint in Nevada. The Carson City Mint was established in 1863 during the height of the Comstock Lode silver mining boom. It closed its doors in 1893 due to the Depression but reopened again in 1899 and continued to produce coins until 1933.
There were two die varieties minted for the 1881-CC Morgan Dollar: Variety One has a light cc mintmark, while Variety Two has a heavy cc mintmark. Both varieties are considered scarce, but Variety Two is slightly rarer. - Specifications
